  17. <p>    Thet've given us renaissance painting; we've thanked them
  18. with Kraft American Singles. Now the Italian-American cultural
  19. exchange will be offset again. Italy's latest export: the
  20. brilliantly funny actor-director ROBERTO BENIGNI, 39. His smash
  21. hit Mafia comedy, Johnny Stecchino, is currently opening
  22. Stateside. Next year he will star in an American farce, Son of
  23. Pink Panther. That project, says Benigni with boyish delight,
  24. "is the most wonderful thing I've done."
